Default Is Arenanet ignoring the massive use of bots?

There are places crowded with bots, literally. You can see the same characters going out of town and then in again, for a whole day, spamming "shou yang chi yongpa!!!" or whatever scripted lamery. I'm not a great farmer but I do farm now and then (when there aren't enough players to pvp with, basically) and I see nothing wrong in it. It surely gets boring after a while, but finding nice gear is quite rewarding.

It is far from difficult to identify them, even for casual players. I'm wondering what Anet is doing. I have no intention of bashing, which is pointless, but I can't understand why they don't get banned asap, since it's amazingly blatant these guys are using bots. They ruin the economy and spoil the fun (not to mention they create awful lag in some towns).
Botting is one of the saddest things in MMORPGs, along with selling virtual money for real cash, which is often the primary objective of botters.

I reported to Anet many times, being as accurate as I could, even sending scrshots, to no avail.

I'm posting here the names of the most famous botters (my first report to Anet was 1 month ago; all these bots continue to farm endlessly and undisturbed, always spamming the SAME line/lines in town):

"Bot" 1 : this one spams "sou huan jian ---ideograms--- chang ku shou" 2-3 times whenever gets back to town. There are a couple of slight variations in the sentence.

"Bot" 2 : shou wang wo qi you de (just spams this one the whole day, I've seen this bot online for a consecutive week in the same places).

"Bot" 3 : gao jia kuang shou zhong shan yi 1.5k you de kuang mi wo (this one probably puts "1.5k" in the scripted sentence to be more believable, but always spams the same words)

"Bot" 4 : gaojia shougou huangjin wuqi (spams in the trade channel mostly, this one is always in the same two towns, never seen it offline)

"Bot" 5 : sell rune of superior vigor .who need? (this one is less clever than the others, he's using english words but the script is blatant: there's too much space between words and the strange dot is always in that position).

Just paying a little attention to those guys is enough to unmask them. Do not even try to whisper them because there's always a possbility the guy is there, hears the whisper sound and answers. Following their actions is more than sufficient: I've never seen something so blatant.

I hope I'll be taken seriously. This is a revolutionary, solid game that doesn't deserve to be ruined by some dishonest players, and if you're aware of what is hidden behind botting, you know what I mean. I'm confident Anet won't make the suicidal choice of nerfing every place exploited by bots, therefore enraging hundreds of players, like they did before. It's like closing a highway because some people drive too fast.

Regards

If you have reported these 'botters' to ANet, there is no need to mention their names. Names edited per board policy. ~Aniewiel

Sure. Now prove they are bots and not just really stupid and annoying people.

You know what happens when a company that has no proof bans someone unfairly?

One word. Lawsuit.

And if you think a company would risk lawsuit rather than not banning someone, then well... Money talks. Even though you can easily come to the conclusion that they're bots, you can't hold your case in court with what you have.

Just toss your report to support and trust that Anet does what it can both as a supplier of a service and as a legal body. Don't take the law into your own hands, by any means. Then it becomes harassment on your part.

They've banned bots in the past... by the hundreds. But the botters are still seeing that the return is better than the risk. More frequent banning needs to be... that or just give in and support them.

For botters the amount of money they make by selling their virtual gold to the amount of money that GW costs is uneven, they actually make money by selling virtual things by doing something that against the ToS.... Yippee

They're stupid and annoying people that don't need to sleep then, because they go on 24/24 spamming the same sentence (which often doesn't make sense) over and over, getting in and out of town. Anet could monitor their activity and be 100% sure they're botters, just because, unlike me, they have logs.

I'm only 99% sure, of course, because dishonest people tend to hate it when they're busted (sarcasm /off), so they're careful not to hand you that little 1% on a silver platter.

As I said above, logs could supply that 1%.

As I said at the bottom of your original post, if this has been submitted to ANet, there is no reason to:

1. name names as that is in violation of forum guidelines
2. continue this discussion.

If you have not yet reported this to ANet, including screenshots and your log, please do so. However, you do indicate that you have sent proof of your accusations so this discussion serves no useful purpose.

Trust me when I tell you that ANet has emphatically said that they will not inform you/us when they ban or pursue botters and exploiters. Let them do their jobs in their own due time.
